Bruin Baseball Tops Muskogee

It was a big District win for Bartlesville High baseball on Monday night at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium, as the Bruins held on to beat Muskogee.
BHS topped the Roughers 4-3 in game one of the two-game set.
Muskogee entered the seventh down three and scored two runs off five singles, however the Roughers left the game-tying run stranded at second and the go-ahead run at first.
Bartlesville made the most of its limited offensive opportunities. BHS struck for two runs in the first. This Sam Marcella double gave the Bruins the early advantage.
Muskogee out-hit Bartlesville 11-4, but two Rougher errors and only one free pass surrendered by Bruin pitching helped the cause.
DJ Thortnon pounded the zone. He went the first 6.0 innings and gave up the three Muskogee runs.
Sam Marcella earned the save, but it wasn’t easy. A huge double-play in the seventh helped erase a Rougher baserunner to maintain the Bruin lead.
Bartlesville improves to 3-6 in the District and is back to .500 at 12-12 on the year.
BHS goes to Muskogee on Tuesday for a 6:00 first pitch, weather pending.
It is another game we will carry for you on KWON and KWONTV.com.
