Bartlesville High baseball had its season come to an end in the 6A Regionals on Wednesday, as BHS had a tough day at Edmond Deer Creek.

The Bruins went 0-2 with two losses to Broken Arrow and Putnam City.

The Bruins fell to BA 5-3 in the first game then was eliminated by the Pirates 1-0.

BHS battled tooth and nail against one of the state’s best in the first game. Bartlesville led Broken Arrow 2-1 until the bottom of the sixth. The Tigers struck for four runs in the sixth to win it.

The Bruins had scored two of their runs in the first to take command of the contest early.

Sam Hill knocked in the first run.

Just a couple batters later it was a youngster in Luke Massey who singled home another run to give Bartlesville a 2-0 lead at the time.

Unfortunately, offense was hard to come by for Bartlesville from that point moving forward.

BHS would only score one more run over its next 13 offensive innings in the Regional.

The losses spoil a couple great pitching outings. DJ Mba Thornton went the complete game in the first contest. He had retired 10 in a row before the four Broken Arrow runs won the game in the sixth.

Then in game two, Cooper Swaim kept BHS in it. Swaim struck out seven over 2.1 innings.

Bartlesville ends its season at 20-17. More on the Bruin’s season over the next week.
