After 38 years of service, a local golf professional is retiring.

In some news we had here on KWON a month ago - Adams Golf Course Professional Jerry Benedict is going to step aside this year.

This week, Benedict announced that his last day with the City of Bartlesville will be Friday, August 16th.

Benedict has led the city-owned course since 1986 and Assistant City Manager Laura Sanders had this to say on his retirement:

"For 38 years, Jerry has served Adams Golf Course and the community through his leadership, technical expertise and ability to provide services and products that help the golf club and everyone who uses it."

Benedict was a guest on our City Matters program in May, and he talked about how much he has enjoyed his career leading Adams.

The announcement of who will serve that role on an interim basis will be made soon.

Adams Golf Course will look quite a bit different this time next year, as they will be completely rebuilding the greens as a big offseason project that the new head professional will oversee.
