Both the Bartlesville High girls’ and boys’ basketball teams rebounded from tough opening ballgames to get blowout wins in their second contests of the season at US Grant on Friday night in Oklahoma City.

On the girl’s side, BHS overcame another tough second quarter to pull away for a win. Bartlesville beat US Grant 54-26.

Despite only scoring three points in the second period, the Lady Bruins lead stayed above seven the entire contest. A 20-1 Bartlesville run late in the third quarter put the game away.

Mikka Chambers led Bartlesville with 16 points. Kennedy Nubel added in 14 and Cassie Snead finished with 12.

Meanwhile on the Bruin guy’s side it was all BHS from the get-go. Bartlesville blew out US Grant 64-45. The Bruins stretched a nine-point lead at the end of the first to 16 at halftime and never looked back.

Riley Duong had a game-high 19 points. He hit an opening three pointer to start off the contest, then got back-to-back layups off steals to help extend the Bruins lead at the end of the second quarter.

Jacob Viet finished with a career-high 14 points. Eli Robertson also had nine.

Every time Grant would go on a run, BHS would answer with defense to keep the Generals at arm’s length.

Both the BHS teams improve to 1-1 on the season, and both head back to Oklahoma City for another double-header, this time with Putnam City on Tuesday.
