Owasso Approves Firefighters Pay Increase

The Owasso City Counsel has approved an agreement that will give firefighters a 3.5 percent raise.
The contract between the city and the Owasso International Association of Firefighters Local 2789 was ratified by the union membership on June 23. It grants a 3.5 percent pay hike effective July 1, as well as an additional raise of 1 percent beginning January 1.
Director of Human Resources, Michelle Dempster, says this agreement will also require minimum staffing for the department disaster response unit and snowplow.
The agreement will also provide holiday pay for employees, procedures for administrative overtime, a second ordering period for uniforms, an adjustment in shift commander start time, and an increase in educational pay for a masters degree in fire service, nursing, or EMS from 49 cents to 69 cents per hour.
