Nowata Lady Ironmen Softball Sits at 5-1

Nowata Lady Ironmen softball is off to a roaring start this fall.
Nowata sits at 5-1 overall following their third place finish in their tournament over the weekend. The Lady Ironmen went 3-1 with wins over Oklahoma Union, Vinita's JV squad and Chelsea. The lone loss this season came to unbeaten Caney Valley (OK) on Thursday.
Lyrique Walker struck out four over 4.2 innings in the circle in a 3-2 win over Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Ironmen have seen excellent defense to start out the season, giving them an extra edge in a handful of games. Ott talks about the role the team's defense has played early in the season.
Nowata returns on Monday for Pawhuska.
