Unfortunately, there is one local high school KWON won’t hear from Saturday morning for our annual high school football preview show. 

As we reported late last week, there will be no football at Wesleyan Christian School this fall. This marks the second year in a row that the Mustangs did not have enough to try to play a season.

WCS made the choice a bit earlier this preseason than last.

The good news is the lull in football athletes appears to be temporary. WCS has 13 guys that will play in a middle school eight-man league this fall. Those athletes are split between seventh and eighth grade.

Cooks talks about what the plan is moving forward with Wesleyan Christian football.

Wesleyan Christian entered the latter part of the summer with only eight guys available for the high school team.

Fabian Quiroz runs the Mustang football program. He took over for former head coach Blain Landers, who coached WCS to a 2-9 season in 2024, the last year the Mustangs had the sport.
