Elder Care's Volunteer Chaperone Program

Tom Davis
Elder Care in Bartlesville is a non-profit organization designed to be the central coordinator of services for mature adults and their families. They are here to help seniors live a healthy, happy, & independent life
Appearing on COMMUNITY CONNECTION, Development Director Mchael Colaw issued the call for help with the Volunteer Chaperone Program (VCP)-- a program designed to assist seniors who are aging in place. VCP offers door-through-door non-medical support and companionship for older adults during medical visits. Funded in part through the Community Care Corps, the program helps seniors who have a ride to a clinic but need someone to accompany them inside for support, guidance, and recovery instructions.
Colaw said, "Volunteers are needed to stay with the senior through the entire medical appointment and help patients track doctor notes, understand follow-up care, and navigate facilities.'
For more information on volunteering for this program, call Elder Care at 918-336-8500.
