In a recent appearance on Fox News Sunday, Senator James Lankford praised President Trump’s unyielding stance on Iran, emphasizing that Trump is the only president in five decades to apply such intense pressure on the “lying, deceptive dictatorship.” Lankford noted that while the U.S. has the military capability to “bomb them back to the stone age,” Trump’s strategy uses force judiciously to bring Iran to the negotiating table. “No one wants to see a war,” Lankford stated, highlighting diplomacy as the best long-term solution but acknowledging that force is sometimes necessary to compel diplomacy.

Lankford also touched on the Senate's packed agenda before the August recess, stressing the urgency of confirming Trump’s nominees, avoiding a government shutdown, and advancing the SAVE America Act through reconciliation. He didn't shy away from addressing what he termed the “weaponization” of the federal government under the previous administration, suggesting that the Judgment Fund could provide a path to justice for those “oppressed” by Biden-era policies, such as Navy SEALs dismissed over vaccine mandates. With the election looming, Lankford underscored the importance of getting the Senate’s work done so Republicans can hit the campaign trail and avoid a scenario where they lose the Senate and subject Trump to more "impeachment crazy."
