OKWU Baseball Splits Day One of NAIA Postseason

Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball split their first day of the NAIA postseason in Shreveport, La.
 
The Eagles won in dominant fashion over Huston-Tillotson University on Monday afternoon, 8-0. They fell to LSU Shreveport, 5-4, Monday evening.
 
In the first game, OKWU's runs came in bunches. The Eagles scored eight runs on nine hits and did not hit a home run. Gavin Florio picked up the win behind seven shutout inning and six strikeouts. Jacob Morgan closed it out with two shutout innings and three strikeouts. OKWU pitching allowed five hits.
 
In the nightcap, the Eagles played from behind early in the contest. The Pilots got out to an early 2-0 lead before OKWU cracked the scoreboard on a Joseph Gutierrez single. LSUS scored two more runs in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead.
 
OKWU mounted their comeback in the top of the eighth. Gilbert Morales hit a homerun to get the Eagles back within two, and a Daurys Manzanillo double tied the game at four.
 
LSU Shreveport won the game in the bottom of the ninth on a walkoff dropped third strike. The winning run scored from third on the throw to first base.
 
The split puts OKWU's season on the line, they will play the winner of Huston-Tillotson and Loyola University New Orleans at 6 p.m. on Tuesday night.
