Arvest Bank's Million Meals Campaign Continues to Raise Funds to Beat Hunger

Arvest Bank and their food partners are in the 16th year of the Million Meals campaign, which is dedicated to raising awareness and essential funds for local food banks and pantries. With your help, Arvest will continue the fight against hunger.
Appearing on COMMUNITY CONNECTION, Whitney Doolin with Arvest Bank and Misty Wishall with Catholic Charities Mary Martha Outreach gave us a Million Meals progress report on the campaign and stressed the very real need when in comes to fighting hunger.
Whitney Doolin said, "We're halfway through our campaign. We finished April pretty strong and we're going to go into May really, really strong. I think we're a little over $10,000 at this point. The campaign runs through May 31 as we work together to fill plates and hearts."
Misty Wishall said, "It is very sad knowing that 1 in 5 kids in our area are affected by food insecurity." She added, " Some people come in at the end of the line on SNAP benefits and with everything at the grocery store ia lot more pricey nowadays, we don't turn people away."
Whitney Doolin said," Oklahoma ranks 6th in the nation for food insecurity. When you make your donation, you money stays right here at home to work with Marty Martha Outreach for those in Bartlesville and Dewey and for Loaves and Fishes in Nowata."
Additional fundraisers for Million Meals are slated as well. Mother's Day is coming up, and it's also Teacher Appreciation Week. Arvest Bank locations have some thing for last-minute shoppers who may not be able to get mom or teacher something quickly. Stop by any location, and for a small donation get a goodie bag gift for that teacher or mom. That money goes to one million meals.
Next week, Arvest holds it's Pet Lookalike Contest, which is always fun for those who are animal lovers out there. Arvest associates submit pictures of themselves with their pets, and you can come vote wiht your donations on who looks most like their pet.
For the third week in May, Arvest Bank will again hold their bake sale with proceeds going to the Million Meals campaign.
