Spring sports are starting to wind down, as we have one of our final Patriot Auto Group Area Athletes of the Week in Bartlesville High tennis standout Johnny Colmenero.

Colmenero has been a mainstay for Bruin tennis at a doubles spot. He has played with two different partners under head coach Bryan Reese and helped make BHS tennis one of the better 6A programs in Oklahoma on both the girls and guy’s side.

Colmenero gives a rundown of his tennis career. 

Colmenero says being able to be a longtime varsity athlete has been a blessing. He has been at No. 1 doubles for the better part of the past three years for BHS.

Colmenero talks about his two doubles partners he has had at BHS in Will Bolding and now Carson Covington.

For Colmenero next year, he will stay local at Oklahoma Wesleyan University to play tennis for the Eagles. He was considering going to Norman for school. Colmenero talks about why he wanted to stick around Bartlesville.

He says he would like to study finance in college because he likes numbers and math.
