Bruin Football Starts Journey to Spring

Bartlesville high football is hard at work, as the Bruins are a bit more than a month away from spring football coming to the forefront.
Bartlesville is under new direction of first year head coach Matt Hennesy. We reported on Hennesy rounding out his staff last week with several notable hires.
As for the Bruins themselves, BHS is working on establishing a new culture under Hennesy. He says guys are starting to figure it out.
Bartlesville will begin spring practice in the latter days of May. It will culminate on May 30 with a spring game that is open to the public and the community is encouraged to attend.
Districts are finally set. BHS will be in a six-team District this fall with Sand Springs, Booker T., Ponca City, Muskogee and Stillwater.
The non-District opponents are Skiatook, Claremore, Collinsville, Enid and Yukon. Three of those opponents are newer for the Bruins.
Hennesy talks about putting together a schedule in a small District.
The Bruin’s District is smaller than the usual eight teams because of schools dropping out of the OSSAA for football. The association decided to not bump teams a classification from 5A, thus making the entire 6A-II smaller than the usual 16 teams.
The class will be 13 schools for the next two years.
