Oklahoma Wesleyan lost a heartbreaker to Langston in the round of 16 in the NAIA national tournament on Friday night.

The Eagles fell to the Lions in Kansas City, 56-55.

In a defensive battle throughout, OKWU's defense led the way in the first half. Langston started off the game 0-15 from the field, giving the Eagles a 10-0 headstart. Langston didn't make a field goal until the seven minute mark of the first half.

This three-pointer by Ethan Williams made it a 10-0 game.

OKWU took a 26-18 lead into the halftime break.

The Eagles led by as many as 12 points in the second half before Langston started their comeback. The Lions got hot from the outside after making only one three-pointer in the first half. Langston took their first lead of the night with just under three minutes to play in the game.

Things got interesting in the final minute of play. OKWU went on a 7-2 run near the end of the second half to pull ahead by one briefly. This Angel Hidalgos three-pointer gave the Eagles the lead.

Langston took the lead back for good 17 seconds later. Hidalgos had an open look at the buzzer to win it but missed the shot.

The loss ends OKWU's season in the round of 16 in the national tournament. The Eagles finish their campaign in 2025-26 with an overall record of 30-4.
