It wasn't the result that the Bartlesville High girls wanted, but BHS showed it belongs in the upper echelon of 6A girl's basketball teams during its State Tournament game on Wednesday.

Mustang topped the Lady Bruins 62-55 in overtime from the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.

Bartlesville held Mustang to 38-percent shooting and stayed in command of the game for the majority of regulation.

It was a familiar formula for BHS, who knocked off Owasso, Jenks and Broken Arrow earlier in the 6A postseason in a similar fashion. The Lady Bruins employed swarming and switching zone and man-to-man defense combined with clutch jump shots.

Shaylyn Ishem had a coming out party. The sophomore made 5-6 shots for 14 points and eight rebounds.

Emma Zimmerman was great, making 3-4 threes, inclduing one that gave the Bruins a two-point lead with 90 seconds remaining.

Turnovers unfortunately were the difference. Bartlesville took command of the game with only three giveaways in the first half. BHS would tally 12 in the second half and OT, which made the difference.

The loss ends the careers of four outstanding BHS seniors in Sami Sheaffer, Emma Zimmerman, Kenzie Denny and Cadence Gray.
