Caney Valley (OK) Football to Play Independent Schedule

Brian McSweeney
For the next two seasons, Caney Valley (OK) Trojan football will play an independent schedule.
The Trojans were one of nine schools who applied to play an independent schedule. They were approved by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) Board of Directors by a 7-2 vote late last month.
Last season, the Trojans finished 0-10 in Hammer's first season. On a roster of approximately 25 players, Caney Valley had nine freshmen. The Trojans played in the Class A-I division last season, in a district with Pawhuska, Pawnee, Tonkawa and Nowata.
Caney Valley was one of four schools the OSSAA accepted to play independently. The Trojans join Cordell, Enid and Capitol Hill. Guymon, John Marshall, Classen SAS, Northwest Classen and US Grant's applications were denied.
The decision to play an independent schedule only applies for the football program.
