OKWU Hoops Sweeps Ottawa

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball swept Ottawa University on Wednesday night in Ottawa.
The Lady Eagles won a tight one, 75-71, the men dominated, 80-49.
On the women's side, OKWU turned around a slow start offensively to a hot shooting night in the second quarter. The Lady Eagles scored 25 points in the second quarter to lead by five at halftime, 36-31.
The Braves opened the second half on an 11-5 run to take the lead briefly in the third quarter. This Kamryn Phoenix three-pointer ended the drought.
Phoenix finished with 23 points.
The Lady Eagles improve to 9-16 with the win, they are 5-14 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
On the men's side, the Eagles got off to a hot start offensively. OKWU opened the game on a 12-3 run, and turned a 23-21 lead midway through the first half into a 42-27 lead at halftime.
OKWU continued to grow the lead in the second half. This Yashi McKenzie three-pointer put OKWU up 23 early in the frame.
The Eagles outscored the Braves in the final 20 minutes, 38-22.
The win puts OKWU's overall record at 22-3 overall and 17-2 in the KCAC. The Eagles maintain a two-game lead for first in the conference standings with three games to go.
Both Eagle clubs return on Saturday for a rematch with York University at home. The Lady Eagles will get the afternoon started at 1 p.m. with the men to follow around 3 p.m. Both games can be heard on Sports Talk, 99.1 FM - KPGM.
