BHS Girls Win, Guys Fall at Jenks

Bartlesville High basketball split a double-header on the road at Jenks on Friday night, as both BHS teams are headed into the final two weeks of the regular season.
Girls got a wire-to-wire upset win, while the Bruin guys ran out of steam in the second half.
On the girl’s side, Bartlesville dominated a Jenks team that resides in the top half of the District BHS won 53-35.
It was defense that led the way. Bartlesville allowed only 16 points in the first three quarters. After trailing 6-0, BHS would reel off an 18-nothing run over the next six minutes to pull away for good.
This three from Addison Jones forced the second Jenks timeout of the night to stop a Lady Bruin run.
Sami Shaeffer was again spectacular. The senior scored 27, notching her ninth game with more than 20 points this season.
Kenzie Denny and Emma Zimmerman both added nine. BHS would lead by as man as 26 and the game was put away early in the fourth quarter. Bartlesville improves to 10-7 overall, 4-6 in District play.
On the guy’s side, a solid first half was turned back early in the third quarter. Jenks pulled away. 72-48.
Bartlesville played with the Trojans early, cutting a 14-point lead down to six late in the second quarter. The run culminated in this three-pointer from Trae Collins.
However, a pair of missed free throws and a missed layup kept Bartlesville down eight at half. Jenks would run away with the contest in the final two quarters.
Hudson Eads had 11, while Collins added in 10.
Bruin guys drop to 7-12.
Both teams next head back to Oklahoma City to face Edmond Santa Fe on Tuesday night.
