Mustangs Split Home Games with Skiatook

The Oologah Mustangs and Lady Mustangs split their home matchup against Skiatook on Tuesday night. The Mustang boys fell to Skiatook by a final score of 75-59. Head coach Caleb Branscum said his team knew Skiatook was a disciplined opponent and noted that being short a starter and dealing with foul trouble made the challenge even tougher, while crediting Skiatook for executing well down the stretch.
Branscum also looked ahead to the Mustangs’ next opponent, Miami, saying the Wardogs are a strong team despite what their record may indicate due to a difficult schedule. He added that Miami returns much of the same roster from last season, making Friday’s road game another tough test.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Mustangs earned a 47-31 win over Skiatook. Head coach Clif Warford praised his team’s defensive effort, saying it set the tone throughout the night. Warford added that as they prepare for Miami, the focus will be on starting strong defensively to create offensive opportunities in transition. Both teams travel to Miami on Friday.
