Lady Huskies Claim Championship, Boys Place 2nd

Both Pawhuska teams were playing the championship of the Mike Kerr Classic in Morrison on Saturday night. The Lady Huskies were victorious over Pawnee, while the guys fell short to Oklahoma Christian Academy.
The Lady Huskies clawed their way to a 42-35 against Pawnee, a team they will see two more times this year. They never trailed in the contest and had the opportunity to extend the lead into double figures a handful of times, but each time Pawnee made a timely basket.
Pawhuska's largest lead was seven and in a low scoring game, this defensive play midway through the fourth quarter was a big one.
Brooklyn Miles, who scored 30 points on Saturday, was named tournament MVP. Emily Curry was named to the all-tournament team.
The boys fell to OCA, 83-58. It was clear from the onset that the Eagles were going to get out and run. In the early stages, Pawhuska hung with them, only trailing by five heading into the second quarter. The Eagles then went on a 24-9 run and led it 49-29 at halftime to all, but put the game away.
Kane Foreman started off hot from the field. Here is an early three that gave Pawhuska a lead as the first quarter was nearing a close.
Scoring was well distributed for Pawhuska, as ten players scored. Jenson Snodgrass and Darian west were both named to the all tournament team.
Pawhuska has some well-deserved time off. They are back in action on Friday for a home game with Newkirk. We will have those games for you on 99.1 FM KPGM and KPGMTV.com.
