Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball picked up their first Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference sweep of the season.
The Lady Eagles beat Southwestern College (KS), 78-67, followed by the ninth straight win for the Eagles, 81-76, on Wednesday night.
In the women's game, the Lady Eagles got off to a hot start offensively. OKWU put up a season high 44 points in the first half, including 25 points in the second quarter. The lead was trimmed to three points in the final three minutes, but that's as close as the Lady Builders could get.
Warr finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
The win gives the Lady Eagles their first KCAC win of the season. They are 1-5 in conference play and 4-6 overall.
On the men's side, OKWU had to deal with hot shooting from Southwestern. The Moundbuilders were 7-12 from the outside in the first half and held a six point lead about midway through the first frame. The Eagles led at halftime, 42-35.
OKWU grew the lead as large as 15 points early in the second half. This three-pointer from Humberto Kentish, Jr. gave OKWU their largest lead of the night.
Southwestern cut the deficit down to five in the final two minutes but could not complete the comeback.
The win keeps the Eagles undefeated in KCAC play. The Eagles are 6-0 in conference play and 10-1 overall.
OKWU basketball returns on Saturday afternoon for the final KCAC doubleheader of the fall semester against Bethel College. The Lady Eagles will tip-off at 1 p.m. with the men to follow around 3 p.m. Both games can be heard on Sports Talk, 99.1 FM - KPGM.
