OKWU Basketball Splits With Avila

It was another split for Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball on Wednesday night against Avila University.
The Lady Eagles fell, 70-65, the Eagles picked up another conference win, 71-56.
On the women's side, the Lady Eagles got down early. They trailed by as many as 12 late in the first half before tying the game late in the third and early into the fourth quarter.
Gracie Alexander led the way for the Lady Eagles, she finished with 21 points on 8-21 shooting. She hit this three-pointer at the buzzer to close out the first half.
The Lady Eagles turned a nine-point deficit in the third quarter into a tie game with just over three minutes left in the game, but could not get over the hump and get the win.
The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 3-5 on the campaign. They are 0-4 to start Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
On the men's side, OKWU had fight off Avila for a few minutes in the first half. The Eagles took command early before Avila went on a 17-4 run over a five-and-a-half minute span to take a four point lead. The two teams were tied at 39 at halftime.
OKWU took over in the second half, outscoring Avila 32-17 in the final frame.
Tamaje Izuagbe led the way with 26 points and 16 rebounds. This three-pointer from Izuagbe made it a one-point game late in the first half.
The win puts the Eagles at an 8-1 overall mark, they have won seven straight, and are 4-0 to start KCAC action.
Both OKWU clubs return home on Saturday for Sterling College. The Lady Eagles will get the day started at 1 p.m. with the men to follow around 3 p.m.
