Nowata basketball starts up in just over two weeks, and the Ironmen are looking to pick up right where they left off.

A season ago, Nowata finished 16-10 overall and won the Northeast Valley Conference over the likes of Dewey, Caney Valley (OK) and Oklahoma Union. They finished 7-1 in conference play.

The Ironmen return five of their top seven guys from last season. Head coach Derick Ott talked about his younger players stepping up.

Nowata came one win away from advancing to the area tournament after falling to Wyandotte in the regional consolation championship last season.

Ott talked about the team's revamped offense.

The Ironmen open up the season on Dec. 2 on the road against the Caney Valley Trojans.
