The Caney Valley Bullpups (6-1) will host the Galena Bulldogs (3-5) this Thursday at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the Kansas Class 2A football playoffs. The Bullpups enter postseason play riding the momentum of a dominant regular season, including a 48-6 victory over Galena earlier this fall.

Galena, however, is looking for redemption. Despite a challenging schedule and a sub-.500 record, the Bulldogs clawed their way into the playoffs and aim to turn the tables on a familiar foe.

For Caney Valley, the focus will be maintaining consistency and avoiding complacency after a convincing regular-season run. Coach Davis emphasized that the postseason brings a clean slate and that his team must remain sharp and disciplined.

The playoff game will be held at Caney Valley’s home field, where the Bullpups will enjoy home-crowd advantage. According to school officials, no general-admission passes are accepted for postseason contests.

If the Bullpups advance, they will continue their pursuit of the Kansas Class 2A state title. But Galena, known for its gritty play style and tradition of postseason resilience, enters the matchup with nothing to lose and everything to gain.
