Police Chief Ike Dye says the SRO's focus will be building positive relationships with students, while ensuring school safety.
With the grant funding moving in place, there is already an officer ready to fill the position.
Both Dye and USD 436 Superintendent Blake Vargas agree that a SRO as a mentor and familiar face in the halls will strengthen the entire community and send a reminder to keep working toward the same goal: helping kids feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
