The South Coffeyville Lions put together their most complete game of the season Friday night, defeating the Watts Engineers 46-22. After struggling with consistency in previous weeks, the Lions finally got their offense firing on all cylinders. Head coach Rich Giesen said the team was able to fix a lot of things on that side of the ball, and it showed as South Coffeyville moved the ball efficiently throughout the night.

While the offensive improvements were clear, the Lions’ defense continued to be the backbone of the team. Known for their physical play and strong tackling, the defensive unit once again held firm, keeping Watts from mounting any serious comeback attempts. Several key stops in the second half allowed South Coffeyville to maintain control of the game and build confidence heading into the back half of the season.

Next up, the Lions will hit the road for a 45-minute trip to Welch to face the 2-4 Wildcats. Welch is coming off a dominant 32-0 win over Billings and will look to carry that momentum into Friday night’s contest. South Coffeyville, however, hopes to keep their own streak going and continue their balanced attack. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. this Friday in Welch.
