The Woodland Cougars went undefeated in 2024 en route to winning the Class A-II state championship. Coach Casey Goad said 2024 was a special season and they are looking to emulate that same success in an effort to repeat as champs. Goad talks about something new they are implementing after last year's state title run.

If the Cougars are to repeat as state champions, it won't be easy. Woodland returns one starter along the offensive line and most importantly will have to replace Trey Bennett, who was a three-year starter at quarterback.

Bennett is now playing that same position at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami.

With the young team that Woodland brings back, Goad says this year's schedule will prepare the Cougars for the most important time of the year, that being the playoffs in November.

Woodland gets the season kicked off on Friday, September 5 at home against Pawnee.
