Copan FB Barreling Toward Practice

We are four days away from high school football practice beginning across Northeast Oklahoma.

Local eight-man football has been the best it has ever been over the past three years. It will be up to new head coaches this fall to see if that success continues.

Copan is now under the direction of a familiar name in Trenton Kallenberger. Kallenberger is a former Hornet assistant and head man at South Coffeyville. He was an assistant under former head coach Marshall Foreman, who departed for Pawhuska with his son this past offseason.

Kallenberger talks about how the summer has gone thus far in Copan.

Copan will have more than half of its starters back in 2025 coming off an 8-3 season a year ago. The Hornets hosted a pair of five-on-five scrimmages over the summer with Wesleyan Christian School, South Coffeyville and Claremore Chrisitan.

Kallenberger says that opportunity was valuable to his club.

Again, Zane Stricklin was the first guy mentioned as a possible quarterback option for Copan, which is probably the biggest question mark heading into the fall.

Copan hosted its first playoff game in 16 years this past season, losing to Cherokee, 36-8.
