We have talked about it a bit on the news side, but an important staple of the Bartlesville sports community is celebrating a big-time birthday this year.

The Phillips 66 Splash Club is turning 75 and representatives from the Splash Club came to KWON to promote their party, which is coming up in a month and a half.

The Splash Club is a year-round swim club open to children in the Bartlesville community and surrounding areas. their mission is dedicated to providing excellence in lessons and competitive swimming instruction.

Chad Englehart, with the Splash Club, talks about the economic impact that having some of these events and a club of this caliber in Bartlesville brings to our community.

As far as the legacy of the Splash Club, Englehart says they want swimming safety to have a lasting impact. In addition to the upcoming birthday party the Splash Club has also be focused on this venture.

Labor Day weekend the Splash Club will celebrate its 75th birthday in Bartlesville, with an event that brings USA Gold Medalist Rowdy Gaines at the Phillips 66 Aquatic Center.

The event will take place on Aug. 29 and 30.
