Nowata Man Dies After June 4 Wreck

A Nowata man who was involved in a June 4 wreck has died from his injuries.
 
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 75-year-old Michael Ray Melton, Sr., died July 2 at a Tulsa hospital.
 
Troopers say Melton was a passenger in a 2015 Infinity QX60 when the vehicle was struck by a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by 40-year-old Derick Schondel of Talala. The collision occurred just after 7:40 a.m. June 4 on North 413 Road near Nowata.
 
Melton was transported by Nowata EMS to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition with chest injuries. Medical personnel at the hospital continued treating Melton for nearly a month before he succumed to injuries sustained in the wreck.
 
OHP is still investigating the crash.
