Dewey Dog Groomer Facing Animal Cruelty Charges

A Dewey pet groomer is facing animal cruelty charges following a police investigation.
50-year-old Angela Aldana, owner of Angie's Pet Salon, was charged Monday with two misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals. Aldana made her initial appearance in Washington County District Court Tuesday afternoon.
According to an affidavit from Dewey police, investigators were approached in May by a former employee of Angie's Pet Salon, who presented video evidence of alleged animal cruelty.
Investigators say the first video shows Aldana striking a dog in the nose with nail clippers while the dog was getting their nails trimmed. The dog allegedly pulled away from Aldana and she struck the dog in the face with a brush. Additionally, investigators say Aldana pulled on the dog's legs until the dog cried out in pain and then she applied pressure to the dog's neck, causing the dog to cry out in pain again.
Another video allegedly shows another employee using a high-pressure blow dryer directly into another dog's ear canal. The dog tried to get away from the employee, but the employee instead muzzled the dog and continued their work.
The former employee alleges she witnessed several instances of animal abuse by Aldana, and that is why she quit.
Judge Russell Vaclaw allowed Aldana to remain out of jail on bond with a condition that she have no contact with animals. Vaclaw ordered Aldana to appear in court again on Wednesday, where he will view the video evidence to see if the bond condition should remain.
