Nowata Co. Commissioners Declare Emergency Disaster

The Nowata County Commissioners met on Monday morning at the Nowata County Courthouse Annex.
 
The commissioners continued their discussion from last week on the new general fund budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The Nowata County Sheriff's Office expressed the need to hire a full-time investigator.
 
Emergency Manager Laurie Summers talked about the benefits of hiring a new investigator.
 
Due to the recent rains and flooding, Nowata County officially declared their second emergency of 2025. The first came on April 28.
 
Commissioner Troy Friddle said the road improvement techniques have gotten better to improve conditions.
 
The board also opened bids for road oil and awarded a bid for Redi Mix concrete.
 
The Nowata County Commissioners meet every Monday morning at 9 a.m. at the Nowata County Courthouse.
