Severe Weather Outlook

A slight risk for severe thunderstorms is forecast for much of eastern Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters say the main threats will be hail up to the size of ping pong balls and damaging winds of up to 70 mph. A limited tornado threat also exists, especially late Tuesday afternoon into the early evening, primarily west of Highway 75 in northeast Oklahoma.
The most favorable time for severe weather will be from mid-afternoon through the evening hours. The threat is expected to diminish closer to the Oklahoma-Arkansas state line and after midnight.
Looking ahead, forecasters are monitoring a separate complex of thunderstorms expected to develop west of the region late Thursday night and move east into eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas by early Friday morning. Large hail and strong wind gusts will again be the primary hazards.
