The Nowata County Commissioners met for the first time this month on Monday morning at the Nowata County Courthouse Annex.

The commissioners entered executive session and hired a new secretary for the board.
According to Emergency Manager Laurie Summers, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is in Nowata County assessing storm damage. Summers talked about the possibility of another statewide emergency and when it would be declared.

The commissioners tabled the estimation of needs from the Nowata County Sheriff's Office and also tabled a resolution for county use tax funding, which involves funding for emergency management.

The board approved donations for the Sheriff's Office, passed a resolution for a right of way acquisition for a low water crossing at Lightning Creek, and approved a cooperative service agreement for the 2025-2026 fiscal year with USDA APHIS Wildlife Services.

The Nowata County Commissioners meet every Monday morning at 9 a.m. at the Nowata County Courthouse Annex.
