Wild night at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium on Sunday, as the Indians got their first win of the summer and split their first two DBAT League games in 2025 against the Tulsa Sandlot.

Bartlesville won a crisp game one, 5-4 in extra innings, but the second game was off the rails. Sandlot earned the split with a 22-12 victory in game two.

Game one was highlighted by good pitching for the Tribe. Sam Marcella was fantastic in his first start on the mound as an Indian. Marcella allowed only one run until two outs in the seventh inning. That is when three straight reached for the Sandlot, scoring three runs to take the lead 4-3. It looked like Bartlesville was poised to win it 3-1.

However, after tying it in the bottom of the seventh, the Indians stole a run in the eighth that would win the ballgame on heads up baserunning from Bryce Luelf.

Kael Siemers got the final four outs for the Indians.

Bartlesville managed only one hit in the game but walked 16 times in the contest. The win was the first of the summer for the Tribe.

Game two was pretty wacky from the start, but neither team could get the ball in the strike zone late. The Sandlot scored 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break the contest open and ended up winning it in a five-inning run rule.

Bartlesville looked primed to get the sweep early. The Indians were up 6-0 then 8-2 early in the game. This nice two-out RBI knock from Leulf extended Bartlesville’s lead.

There were a total of 33 free passes surrendered by both teams combined in the five-inning contest.

The loss drops the Indians to 1-5 to begin the summer. Bartlesville will play some younger teams starting this weekend in a tournament in Branson.

More on that event coming up later this week.
