The 2025 Doenges Toyota Indian’s season is underway, as the Tribe battled but fell to the Kansas Curve in game one of the summer.

The Curve tacked on runs late to win 9-2 on Tuesday night in Wichita, Kansas.

It was a hotly contested game through 6.5 innings. The younger Indians struggled on offense against the collegiate pitching. Bartlesville managed only one hit and five base runners in the game. However, the Tribe made the most of its chances early.

Third-year Indian Grant Clark lined this single into centerfield in the fifth inning, which tied the game up.

The other highlight came from the Griggs brother. Dewey products Zane and Lathe Griggs went the first six innings on the mound and combined for 10 strikeouts and only two runs allowed.

The younger brother in particular shined. Lathe had six strikeouts through his three frames, including this one that left the Curve bases loaded.

Free passes became an issue in the final innings. The Curve reached on walks and hit by pitches to begin the seventh and eighth innings and ended up scoring six insurance runs on only two base hits across the two frames.

With the loss, the Indians drop to 5-6 in their season-openers over the past 11 seasons.

Bartlesville will get a chance at revenge on Friday as the Curve visit Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium for a double-header. A scheduled 4:30 first pitch for game one. First contest on KPGM – Game two on KWON with both on KWONTV.com.
