OKWU Baseball Survives Against William Carey

Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball stayed alive in the opening rounds of the NAIA postseason with a win on Tuesday over William Carey University, 16-11.
 
The Eagles controlled the pace early with three runs between the third and fourth innings to take the initial lead. It was a 6-4 lead for the Eagles through six innings.
 
The bats on both sides got hot very fast from the seventh inning onward. OKWU put up nine runs in the top of the top of the seventh to take a 15-3 lead. The Crusaders answered with four runs in their half of the seventh and four more runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 15-11 game. The Eagles picked up a crucial insurance run in the top of the ninth to secure the win.
 
Ravaughn Morgan and Victor Sanchez were on point again at the plate, combining for five RBI. Morgan finished with three hits and two runs batted in. Sanchez knocked in three runs, he finished with two hits. 
 
OKWU needed six pitchers to survive and advance. Michael Mendoza got the start on the bump.
 
The win keeps Oklahoma Wesleyan's season alive. They will advance to another elimination game at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. A win and they will play a second game on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
