It was a 1-1 day one for Bartlesville High baseball at the Bruin’s 6A Regional in Stillwater on Thursday afternoon, as BHS will face elimination from here on out in the postseason.

Bartlesville lost game one to Sapulpa, 6-1 but rebounded to beat US Grant 22-0 in game two, as the Bruins will fight for their season on Friday.

Game one against Sapulpa was a close one, the Chieftains struck for five runs in the top of the third inning off a trio of hits, a Bruin error and two walks.

Bartlesville had baserunners in each of the final four frames but couldn’t manage a big hit. This one from Cooper Swaim scored the only Bartlesville run of the game.

The loss dropped BHS to the loser’s bracket, where Bartlesville eliminated US Grant easily, 22-0 later in the day. It was a 14-run first inning where the Bruins scent 20 guys to the plate that ended the game.

This shot to the wall from Jaxon Zaun helped the BHS cause.

It is win or go home the rest of the event. Bartlesville will face Sapulpa at 2:00 on Friday afternoon in another elimination game. Win and the Bruins get Stillwater at 4:30. Lose, and their season is over. Bartlesville will have to win three more in a row to get to State.

A 1:50 pregame on Sports Talk 99.1 FM – KPGM this afternoon. Same station for the 4:30 game against the Stillwater, as well.
