Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball came up short in the semifinals of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Sunday, falling to Tabor, 4-2.

OKWU took an early 2-0 lead thanks to a Victor Sanchez home run in the third inning. Tabor tied things up in the seventh with a pair of singles and took the lead in the eighth on a home run. The Blue Jays added a big insurance run in the ninth off a wild pitch to lead by two.

Braelen Pippin started on the mound for the Eagles. He went 6.1 innings, allowed five hits, two runs, one walk and struck out six. Alan Covarrubias and Matthew Weidkamp came on in relief.

Despite falling short in the conference tournament, OKWU still gets an automatic bid into the NAIA postseason as regular season conference champions. The Eagles will know their opening round assignment during the selection show on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The opening rounds start on May 12.
