Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball took sole possession of first place in the KCAC standings on Friday, splitting their doubleheader with Kansas Wesleyan from Silver Lake Field and taking the three game series, 2-1.

OKWU dropped game one to the Coyotes on Friday, 6-1, before taking the rubber match in the tail end of Friday's doubleheader, 10-6.

The bats had uncharacteristic trouble getting started in game one on Friday, the one run performance is the lowest runs OKWU has scored in a game since they were shut out by Southwestern on March 1. The Eagles never led in the ballgame.

Things quickly changed in the second game on Friday, OKWU put up 10 runs on 10 hits. They led KWU 9-0 after five innings. Luis Antigua led the way offensively, finishing with three hits, one run scored and two RBI. Jorge Aldrete hit a three-run home run early in the ballgame as well.

The series win breaks the tie for first place in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference standings between OKWU and KWU, the Eagles are hanging onto the top spot by a game with three games left in the regular season.

OKWU baseball is 41-6 overall and 28-5 in conference play after the weekend. They'll have a chance to seal a regular season conference championship when they take on Ottawa University in their final series of the season.

The series will start with a doubleheader on Friday from Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium. Start times are set for 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
