Muskogee Outlasts Bruin Baseball

Bartlesville High baseball lost a tough one on Monday night in the first game of a two-game District series with Muskogee.
The Roughers held on in extra innings, winning 7-6 at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.
Bartlesville rallied from down 6-2 in the middle innings and had several chances to take the lead, but stranded runners spurned BHS. Bartlesville stranded 15 baserunners over the eight offensive frames.
This base knock from Kaden Romesburg tied the game up in the seventh to give the Bruins some life.
That was one of four hits for Romesburg on the day. Bartlesville left at least two baserunners in six of its eight innings.
Defensively, BHS also had some issues. Three Bruin errors led to four of the seven Muskogee runs being unearned. The Roughers did tag Romesburg for eight hits and swung the bats well in the middle part of the game.
BHS started to mount its comeback in the fifth. This hit from Cooper Swaim got Bartlesville a run back down by four.
Bartlesville’s offense continues to get better, as BHS had 11 hits on the night. Bartlesville drops to 4-3 in District play with the loss, 13-8 overall.
Game two of the series on Tuesday night at Muskogee at 6:00. No radio or TV coverage, we will rejoin BHS on Monday at Stillwater.
