Nowata tennis is in full swing for the 2025 season with a few tournaments complete.

The Nowata girls squad is now three tournaments in. The girls got their season started in Miami on March 11 where five players took home consolation championships. Since then, the girls have also competed in tournaments in Skiatook and another tournament in Pryor put on by Grove.

Head coach Derick Ott talks about how a young girls team has improved from a season ago.

The boys team has also seen some playing time as the season ramps up. They also got their season started in Miami and had a tournament in Pryor. In Miami, Brett Malone took home a consolation medal.

On the guys side, lots of players that are in tennis are also in other spring sports, including a handful of baseball players that are also balancing tennis. Along with tennis, Malone is also on the golf team. He played basketball over the winter with another tennis player in Ryan Walton.

Ott says that he's liked that both teams have been getting some extra work in when they can.
