Derrick Hammer has been named the new head football coach for the Caney Valley Trojans.

Hammer comes to Caney Valley after spending one year in Broken Bow this past season. He also spent time coaching in Dewey for two years and in Blackwell for three years.

Hammer talks about the opportunity to grow the program at Caney Valley.

The Trojans went 1-9 last season in what was the final season under head coach Steven Mitchell. Mitchell recently accepted a coaching position at Dewey and will coach the offensive and defensive lines.

Hammer says he's looking to create a culture at Caney Valley to get his group to buy in.
