OKWU Basketball Counting Down to Kansas City Battle

Brian McSweeney
Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball is still kicking in the NAIA national tournament, as the field has dwindled down from 64 to 16. For the second year in a row, the Eagles find themselves among that field of 16.
Oklahoma Wesleyan's path has not been an easy one. As the 7-seed in their quadrant of the bracket, they took on a tough Mid-America Christian University squad in the opening round and came away with an 80-69 win last weekend.
OKWU turned around the very next day to take on Dordt University, the 2-seed in their quadrant, and escaped from Iowa with a 75-73 win.
Oklahoma Wesleyan's path does not get any easier from here. No rest for the weary, OKWU would have to win four games over the next five days to claim their first national championship since 2009.
The first of those four starts on Friday when the Eagles take on Baker University at 7 p.m. at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City. Coverage of the game can be heard on KWON - AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1.
