Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball advanced to the second round of the NAIA tournament on Friday with an 80-69 win over Mid-America Christian University.

The Eagles found themselves in a slight hole early. Outside shooting struggled but the Eagles hung around with some nice stops defensively. Once shots started to fall, OKWU pulled away. The Eagles held a three point lead at halftime, 31-28.

The Eagle lead grew as large as 17 points in the second half. Derrick Talton Jr. was a bright spot yet again for the Eagles, leading the way with a season-high 30 points.

This steal and score from Dylan Philip to Talton Jr. helped put MACU away.

The win advances OKWU to the second round of the tournament where they will stay in Iowa to face the winner of Dordt University and Dickinson State. Tip-off for Saturday scheduled for 3 p.m. with simulcast coverage on KWON and KPGM starting at 2:45.
