Patriot Athlete of the Week: Lydia Phillips

It is a Monday, which means we have another Patriot Auto Group Area Athlete of the Week, powered by Tri County Tech.
This week we head to South Coffeyville, where Lady Lion standout Lydia Phillips is leading the way for the girls’ basketball team. This is the second time in the past three seasons where South Coffeyville has excelled in girl’s hoops.
The Lady Lions are still kicking in the Class B playoffs, standing at 23-2 overall. Two years ago, South Town entered the playoffs undefeated. Phillips says that experience is paying off for her senior year.
Phillips was not able to play early this season because of an injury. She started to get back into action just before Winter Break. This also caused her to miss her final softball season at South Coffeyville. Phillips details the injury and her rehab.
Phillips is going to go to K-State and plans on majoring in advertising. She talks about she likes to do for fun off the court.
Phillips also has a sister who plays on the South Coffeyville basketball team in Marley.
Lady Lions face Shidler this afternoon for a chance to head to Area at 1:00 on Monday afternoon. South Coffeyville beat Calumet in an elimination game this past Saturday.
Thanks again to Lydia Phillips, this week’s Patriot Auto Group Area Athlete of the Week, powered by Tri County Tech.
