A lot of basketball across the area on Friday night.

Bartlesville High split a double-header at Sand Springs.

The Lady Bruins won going away, while the Bruin guys fell in round two against the Sandites.

On the girls side first, BHS won, 49-31. Bartlesville got up by 13 at halftime and led by double-figures the rest of the way. Sand Springs struggled against the Lady Bruin’s defense.

Bartlesville was carried offensively by Kennedy Nubel and Sami Shaeffer. Nubel led BHS in scoring for the second straight night. She got this basket in the second half to extend Bartlesville’s lead.

Nubel finished with 19, a new season high. Shaeffer had 17. Bartlesville improved to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in District action.

Meanwhile on the guy’s side, Sand Springs ran away with the game late in the second quarter. Sandites beat the Bruins, 72-42.

Despite the lopsided result, Bartlesville continues to execute better on offense. The 40 points was only the sixth time BHS got there this season. This basket from freshman Jordan Turner was one in a good flurry from him in the second half.

Bartlesville guys drop to 3-13 and 0-9 in District action. Both teams return home on Tuesday at home against Sapulpa.
