Day one of the Caney Valley Tournament in the books in Ramona, as day two again kicks off early on Friday morning.

There was one hiccup on Thursday, Riverfield is not coming to the weekend’s event, so both their teams’ games did not happen.

First, we’ll start with the nightcap, the Dewey guys led throughout most of their game with Cleveland but could not hold on. Tigers beat the Bulldoggers, 46-40. Dewey had an early 18-6 lead dwindle away.

Karson Johnson was the top-performer for the Bulldoggers. He had three three-pointers in the first quarter. This one later in the game would help keep Dewey in the lead.

Earlier in the evening, the Cleveland girls beat the hosting Caney Valley Trojans., 45-34.

Game was tight throughout. Faith Davis for Caney Valley hit his bucket early to help aid the Trojans.

Other finals on the girl’s side Thursday:

Caney Valley, Kansas beat Liberty, 65-15 and Porter beat Barnsdall. 43-35.

On the guy’s side outside of the Dewey loss:

Liberty beat Porter and Caney Valley, Kansas topped the hosting Caney Valley Trojans, 59-31.

KRIG 104.9 will have the final two games of the day on Friday. At 7:00 it will be the Caney, Kansas girls and Cleveland. Meanwhile at 8:30 Friday Barnsdall will face Caney, Kansas guys.

Both those are semifinal matchups with pregame beginning around 6:45 on KRIG.

Other semifinals earlier in the day on Friday – the Porter and Dewey girls will play at 4:00 while the Liberty and Cleveland guys will play at 5:30
