OKWU Stays Hot With Sweep of York

Both Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball teams are heating up as the two squads swept York on Saturday. The women came back after trailing by 10 at halftime to win in overtime, 81-72, and the men stayed hot from the outside to win their third straight by double digits, 84-69.
 
On the women’s side, the Lady Eagles got down 11-0 early and was 0-7 from the outside in the first half. In the second half they got hot, scoring 39 points to force overtime. They outscored York in OT, 17-8. Shade Richardson led the way with 32 points, including this layup in overtime fighting through contact. The Lady Eagles have won three straight and five of their last six.
 
The OKWU men dominated from start to finish. The Eagles led by 14 at halftime and stretched the lead to as large as 24 before closing out another conference win. Derrick Talton Jr. finished the game with 19 points on 8-10 shooting and a perfect performance from the outside. He made this three-pointer late in the game to increase the lead back to 20. Isaac Stanek also stayed hot finishing with 27 points. The Eagles have also won three straight.
 
Both OKWU teams will return Wednesday night for another home conference test against Evangel University. The women will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.
