OKWU Men Lose, Women Win v. Saint Mary
Oklahoma Wesleyan women and men split two games at the Mueller Sports Center in Bartlesville on Wednesday night.
The women won but men fell in a close one against Saint Mary in the first KCAC double-header of the 2025 calendar year.
On the women’s side first, Eagles led throughout, but a late run from the Spires put OKWU under the gun. Despite trailing by three into the fourth, Wesleyan rebounded for a 73-59 win.
This Zariah Tillman basket in the final two minutes put the cherry on top of a big Eagle run.
Rashaan Smith had a OKWU career-high of 27 in the victory. Lady Eagles move to 3-5 in conference action.
The men’s game was a barnburner, but Saint Mary made the plays in the final couple minutes to outlast an Eagle comeback, 65-61.
OKWU was down as many as 12 but rallied and took the lead several times in the final five minutes.
Wesleyan had the ball down two in the final seconds and made what appeared to be a game-tying shot with two seconds remaining. However, it was disallowed after review because the shot clock had expired.
Jaden Lietzke was back in the lineup, and this dunk for the lead was the biggest play of the night.
OKWU men have lost two straight. Eagles are 9-5 overall 6-2 in conference play.
Both clubs head to Wichita for a KCAC double-header at Friends on Saturday.
